MFH-2 CERTIFICATION

DIRECTV's MFH-2 solution enables multiple dwelling units to receive all of DIRECTV's programs and services, in addition to VHF/UHF, SMATV, VOIP, CMTS, and CATV services. In this course you will learn about the system components that comprise the MFH-2 system and the correct way to install, connect, and adjust them for best service quality to the subscribers.

The course provides the detailed knowledge required for DIRECTV MFH-2 multiple-dwelling unit system installation. Upon completion of this course, you will receive the SBCA MFH-2 Certification, which is part of the SBCA commercial MDU installer certification series.

Content: This course presents an overview of the DIRECTV MFH series of MDU systems, followed by in-depth study of the components and procedures required for MFH-2. DIRECTV satellites, bands, and trunk lines, as well as operation of the SWM are explained with animation. SlimLine-5 dish pointing is taught in detail with the use of fully-functional software simulator which includes a realistic meter, all antenna controls, and the sky view (unique to SatProf). All MFH-2 authorized components are described in detail. Approved cables and connector attachment is reviewed with 3D animation. Trunk distrution systems are explained, followed by customer unit wiring rules. Engineering drawings for a range of example MFH-2 property installations are toured using a pan-and-zoom user interface. Level setting prcedure is explained and the student has the opportunity to practice using realistic, full-system simulations. At the end of the course, upgrading, testing, and troubleshooting topics are covered in detail. A final exam concludes the course.

Upon completion of this course you should be able to:

  • Identify all of the components of the MFH distribution system
  • Understand the differences between the MFH distribution system and standard satellite distribution system
  • Explain the importance of using high frequency components
  • Read system design specifications for MFH technology
  • Properly install MFH distribution system for both satellite and off air reception
  • Balance the system to ensure proper operation
  • Effectively troubleshoot an MFH system
Who should take this class? All commercial MDU system installation technicians who install DIRECTV MFH-2 systems.

Recommended prerequisites: SBCA Satellite Essentials; SBCA MDU/SMATV.

Certification: Upon successful completion of this online course, you will receive SBCA MFH-2 Certification. Follow-up hands-on training for SBCA MFH-2 Master Technician Certification is offered by authorized MSO organizations. Please watch www.sbcatest.com for announcements.

Duration: Approx 200 pages, requiring 10-20 hours study.
